KNOLE DEER PARK
ABOUT KNOLE DEER PARK
Knole Park is Kent’s only remaining deer park, which has remained substantially unchanged since the medieval times. It is located in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is home to over 350 Fallow and Sika deer as well as woodland, parkland, ponds and beautiful medieval estates.
TIME & LOCATION
We will be meeting at 2pm on Sunday August 27th. The meeting point is Sevenoaks Station. Please aim to arrive early!
ACTIVITY LEVEL
This is an easier nature walk and will be at a leisurely pace. Knole park does have some hills, but they aren’t too steep. We will take breaks to chat, watch the deer and take pictures along the way – feel free to comfortably pace yourself. The walk will be approximately 3 hours with plenty of stops in between. After the hike, you can either head home or stop for a bite to eat with the group, at the local Wetherspoons.
WHAT DO I NEED?
Make sure you have water, weather-appropriate sports clothing, comfortable walking shoes and sunscreen. Consider the type of bag you carry – bumbags and lightweight rucksacks are best. I’d advise eating a decent breakfast beforehand, or bringing some food/snacks along. There are several shops within and surrounding Sevenoaks Station to purchase food.
GETTING THERE
Public Transport: There are direct trains to Sevenoaks Station from many London stations. The journey from inner London stations is approx. 30 minutes.
Driving: The nearest car park is the Sevenoaks Station Car Park, where you can park all day for £3.50.
